Jewelry Sales Job

An AGS and IJO store, we are known for quality, original jewelry and exemplary service. About 20% of our sales are custom jewelry. Our workshop is located on-premises, and includes state-of-the-art CAD/CAM equipment, laser welder, and full casting facilities. We are owned by a husband and wife team. He is a Graduate Gemologist, and an excellent jeweler of 33 years. She practiced as a CPA.

We carry some designer jewelry, and stock our cases with jewelry that is original and well made. Our bridal is sold as semi-mounts with loose centers. We look hard for unique jewelry that differentiates us from the mall and jewelry chain stores. We do not follow the practice of routine sales and discounts. With a strong focus on customer service, quality product, reasonable prices and custom design, we have been extremely successful.

We are located in the beach community of Ventura, one hour from Los Angeles, about half way between Malibu and Santa Barbara. Our historic downtown is experiencing an economic revitalization. Our building is also historic, with a brick wall, hardwood floors, and hanging pendant lights. Our look is “upscale industrial.” Our store is stunning, and we often have special fundraising events, artist receptions, or other special events.

Our growth rate has been between 25% and 35% for each of the seven years we’ve been in business. We are poised to continue this growth, and want you to be a part of it. A working knowledge of the jewelry industry and/or jewelry construction is preferred, such as experience with loose diamonds and colored stones, inspecting jewelry and determining repairs needed. Custom design experience is a plus. If you have experience as a sales associate or sales person, you should desire to develop into sales management. Our successful candidate will have the following characteristics: Self-starter, positive attitude, degree of extroversion, empathy, friendliness, neatness and a willingness to learn. Ability to relocate oneself, if not presently living locally. Note that home prices in Ventura average $500,000.

Duties of the sales person, sales associate, or sales manager will include sales (including loose diamonds and colored stones, and custom design), determining appropriate repairs, maintaining a customer book, putting the jewelry out/away, sending out Thank You notes, answering the phone, maintaining the cleanliness of the store, training and other duties as required to operate a jewelry store. Training will consist of staff meetings, reading/tapes, and educational courses.

Our hours are Monday through Thursday, 10:30 – 6:00, Friday and Saturday 10:30 – 10 p.m. We are in an area with many upscale restaurants, and we do well on the weekend evenings. You will be required to work some, but not all, weekend evenings, and the occasional Sunday that we are open. You will be required to work most Saturdays or Saturday nights.

We offer wages/salary, commission, a monthly store bonus, personal time (sick/vacation), and payment towards your choice of medical plans.
