POSITION DESCRIPTION
STRATEGIC CHEMICAL MARKETING MANAGER
Summary:
Reporting to the VP of Marketing, this position is responsible for the formulation and execution of
global strategic marketing strategies for a broad chemical portfolio and its key customer groups.
Key responsibilities include: financial accountability, strategic planning, market analysis, tactical
sales support, and product management. The position works closely with Senior Management,
Marketing Communications, Sales and Operations.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Market and competitive analysis
• Identify market growth opportunities and develop strategic business plan
• Drive new business and opportunities
• Manage product portfolio including new products, price positioning and discontinuance
• Develop tactical marketing plans to target customers and support sales teams
• Work with marketing communications to develop collateral for campaigns in print, electronic
and web based media
• Develop sales forecasts and inventory management strategies with operations and sales
team
• Financial responsibility for chemical product line including revenue and margin targets
Education and/or Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required. MBA preferred
• 7-10 years experience in chemical marketing or associated field to academia/government,
pharmaceutical/biotech, and industry markets
Skills:
• Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint. Oracle experience a plus
• Excellent verbal/written communication and presentation skills
• Ability to translate product positioning to different audiences
• Experience managing many deliverables under tight timelines
• Must be organized, detail-oriented, hands-on, diplomatic, and a team player
• Strong personal drive and creativity; self-starter and able to see things through to completion
• Understanding of and appreciation for brand building
• A strategic mindset and the ability to display structured conceptual thinking
Willingness to travel 25% of time
